KCA urges for free cotton trade
KARACHI: Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) has urged the government not to make any intervention in cotton market through public sector organisation as it will disrupt cotton economy in the country.
In a press statement issued here Tuesday, the KCA said it has always advocated for free trading policy in cotton which means a free export and import of cotton without any quantitative and qualitative restrictions.
Expressing concern over the news reports that the government was considering to induct Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) as alternative buyer in the cotton market to stabilize the price, KCA said that any intervention would negate policy of free cotton trade.
KCA said that this policy has been followed very successfully since last 16 years in the country to safeguard the interest of all stakholders of cotton economy including growers.
