KIEV: Russian natural gas flows to Ukraine have been stable since Dec. 9, Ukraine's gas transport monopoly said on Monday, following a six-month gap in supply from Russian exporter Gazprom caused by a price dispute and unpaid debts.
"The supplies are stable. We received 22.9 million cubic metres (mcm) of Russian gas on December 27," Ukrtransgaz spokesman Maxim Belyavsky said.
Ukraine had 11.8 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas in underground storage as of Dec. 27, down by about 30 percent since the start of the heating season, Ukrtransgaz data showed.
The country paid Gazprom $378 million for 1 bcm of gas in December to replenish its reserves.
Ukraine has said a gas agreement with Russia, reached in October, allows Kiev to buy up to 5 bcm of gas between October and March 2015.
