imageISLAMABAD: Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) is continuously engaged in taking necessary steps to further promote and strengthen role of engineers in the national development, Chairman of the IEP-Rawalpindi-Islamabad Centre, Engineer Hussain Ahmad Siddiqui said on Saturday.

While reviewing the IEP's achievements over the years, he said they are regularly consulting and coordinating with its members throughout the country for their active role in the nation-building task, seminars and lectures are arranged on regular basis for their capacity-building.

IEP's Islamabad-Rawalpindi chapter time and again took many steps for promoting professional skill of the engineers in their relevant field.

The IEP was founded with the blessing of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in 1948 with its Headquarters at Dhaka.

In 1972 the Headquarters were shifted to Lahore.

Siddiqui said they are attaching high importance to promoting and advancing the science and business of engineering in all its branches throughout Pakistan.

The other objectives which are being actively followed are to promote efficiency in the engineering practice and profession, regulate the professional activities and assist in maintaining high standard in the general conduct of its members and lay down the professional code of ethics and to make it mandatory for its members in their professional conduct.

Siddique said they are helping their engineers in the acquisition and exchange of technical knowledge and promote professional interest and social welfare of its members.

"We also encourage original research in engineering, conservation and economic utilization of the resources of the country through various means," he added.
