imageFAISALABAD: The Punjab government is providing subsidy worth billions of rupees through Sastay Ramzan Bazaars whereas this facility is not available in other provinces.

This was stated by State Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali while talking to media persons during his visit to Sasta Ramzan Bazaar at D-Type Colony here on Sunday.

He said that other provinces should also follow the Punjab government in providing relief to the common people during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.

He said that more than 20 Sastay Ramzan Bazaars have been set up in Faisalabad only where the people are getting almost all daily use items at cheaper rates.

A comprehensive strategy has also been evolved to check the supply substandard and poor quality commodities in Ramzan Bazaars and in this connection, monitoring teams have been formed to take appropriate steps and ensure quality items in the bazaars, he added.

"I am receiving regular complaints regarding electricity load shedding during Sehar and Iftar times, he said and added that I have activated my entire team to redress these complaints on top priority."

"We have old and redundant transmission lines which are causing electricity load shedding during Sehar and Iftar times besides power tripping repeatedly during the day times," he added.

"Our present transmission system is not catering to the needs over and above 15000 megawatt whereas we have needed 18-19 thousand megawatt electricity during Sehar and Iftar times," he disclosed.

"I and my team are striving our optimum to deal with the situation and only 20-25 percent load shedding is being resorted to during Sehar and Iftar times which would also be overcome shortly," he added.

Condemning the Lahore incident, he said that some elements were shedding crocodile tears and want to cash dead bodies of Lahore martyrs.

He said that Sheikh Rashid and Pervaiz Elahi are political orphans. They should resign and sit in home with calm if they are not happy with the present democratic system.

Responding to a question, the minister said that concerns of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar was an internal issue of the PML-N. However, this issue has been resolved amicably after meeting of Chaudhry Nisar with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
