ALGIERS: Algeria's grain imports in the first five months of this year rose 40 percent to 3.165 million tonnes compared with the same period last year, customs data showed.
Soft wheat accounted for most of the increase, with imports rising to 2.445 million tonnes in the January-May period from 1.519 million last year. Durum wheat imports fell 3.36 percent to 720,026 tonnes, the data showed.
