Premier Wen Jiabao arrives in Britain for three-day visit
LONDON: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in Britain on Saturday for a three-day visit, the second leg of a three-nation European tour, a British government spokeswoman said.
Wen flew into Birmingham Airport, in central England, just before 8:00 pm (1900 GMT) from Budapest, Hungary, which was the first stop on the tour which will also take him to Berlin, the Foreign Office spokeswoman told AFP.
"They have arrived," she said.
"They flew into Birmingham where they were met by (British Trade Minister, Stephen) Green and Sebastian Wood, our ambassador to Beijing."
Wen does not have any engagements on Saturday.
On Sunday he will visit Shakespeare's birthplace Stratford-upon-Avon and the MG car plant in Longbridge, now owned by a Chinese company, both in central England.
He will take part in the annual UK-China Summit on Monday in London, also attended by British Prime Minister David Cameron and other senior ministers.
