ISLAMABAD: PML-Q's Marvi Memon on Wednesday tendered resignation from memberships of the National assembly and the party over party's alliance with the government.
She hastily read out a written speech in the National Assembly and announced her resignation. She then left the House. PPP's Chief Whip in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah reacting to the resignation said it should have been tendered when Akbar Bugti was assassinated; an elected prime minister was extradited; and, when Chief Justice was humiliated.
"It's double standard and purely meant to hit media headlines," Shah said, adding he would thump the desk and clap for Marvi had she condemned Musharraf.
Later, PML-Q leader Faisal Saleh Hayat reacted to the resignation of Marvi, and said he was asking her over the last three years to resign if she didn't abide by party lines and policies.
Faisal questioned Marvi Memon for resigning over 'high moral grounds' and said, though she belonged to Sindh yet elected on a reserved seat for Punjab.
