imageWASHINGTON: US actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was in critical condition Saturday after a fatal six-vehicle accident early in the morning in New Jersey, his representative told AFP.

"Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware," said the actor's spokesman Lewis Kay.

"His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care," Kay said.

"We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available."

The former "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock" star was flown to the hospital overnight after the limo bus he was travelling in overturned, killing one passenger inside, police said.

Two tractor-trailers, an SUV and two cars were also involved in the New Jersey Turnpike accident, he added.

Authorities in New Jersey said the limo, which crashed around 1:00 am (0500 GMT) carrying seven people, may have been struck from behind by one of the tractor trailers.

Three individuals were admitted at the facility in critical condition and one in fair condition, a hospital spokesman told AFP.

The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, who appeared on the show from 1996 to 2003, also starred in the award-winning US sitcom "30 Rock," which ended after seven seasons early last year.

Morgan performed Friday night at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware.Morgan, 45, was hospitalized at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
