101 shopkeepers fined, two arrested for profiteering

KARACHI: The divisional and district administration Karachi has challaned 101 shopkeepers and fine or Rs1,45,500 were imposed while two shopkeepers were arrested for profiteering and violating officially approved price list.

According to a statement issued here on Monday, during crackdown the administration fined 52 milk sellers, 11 food items grocers, 36 chicken sellers and two meat vendors.

The action against profiteers were taken in the areas including Korangi, Ibrahim Hyderi, Bin Qasim, New Karachi, North Nazimabad, Liaquat Abad, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulzar Hijri, Jamshed Quarters, Ferozabad and Saddar.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue till its logical end.
