Students visit Pakistan Embassy in Berlin

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of 26 Pakistani students who secured top positions in various examinations visited Pakistan embassy in Berlin on Saturday and interacted with senior students studying in Germany.

The students who got top positions in the matriculation, intermediate and BA/Bsc examination comprises 15 female and 11 male students, majority of them from Punjab, is currently on a visit to various universities in Turkey, Germany, and UK.

The visit is to further motivate these students and broaden their horizon by international exposure.

Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany Shahid Kamal briefed the students on Pak-German relations in the field of education and said efforts were underway for increased number of scholarships for Pakistani students, besides setting up of links between campuses of German and Pakistani universities in the field of research.

He said a Centre of Excellence was being set up in Islamabad with the help and cooperation of Technical University of Berlin in the field of Nano Technology.

Prof. Dr. M Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, Group coordinator thanked the Ambassador and the officials of the Embassy for organizing fruitful engagement of the students with faculties of various universities in Germany.

He presented a shield on behalf of the delegation to the Ambassador. During the reception the students gathered information about higher studies in Germany from the senior students, presently pursuing their PhD degrees in Germany and were specially invited by the Embassy to share their experiences.

Earlier the delegation visited Humboldt University and the Technical University in Berlin.

They are scheduled to visit universities in Heidelberg, Dortmund, Aachen and Gottingen in Germany before heading to UK. Visit of these position holder students have been organized on the initiative of the Punjab government.
