LAHORE: Vegetable prices have reduced in the market after the supply of local crops increased.
Agriculture expert Ch Azam Ali Soroya told APP on Sunday that it was possible after increase in the supply of potato, onion, tomato and other vegetables in the market.
Saleema, a customer said that in Shadman Sunday Bazaar that potato was now available at Rs 30 to 35 per kg, onion at Rs 40 to 50 and prices of tomato had also been reduced now which was available at Rs 60 per kg.
Kashif, another customer, said that prices had been reduced substantially since the last month.
According to the marketing section of Agriculture Department Punjab, the new crop of potato including class 1 and 2 was coming to the market from Sargodha, Khushab, Kasur, Sialkot, Okara, Sheikhupura and Lahore districts and the regular supply of vegetables would further decrease prices till the mid of December.
Onion is bit late, however, its production has started arriving in the market and its price will be reduced by the mid of the present month.
Likewise, the local crop of tomato is ready and prices of the vegetable will be further reduced in Punjab after few days.
