imageKARACHI- Karachi Police Chief, Shahid Hayat Khan has announced to provide jobs, against sports quota, to 14 football players from Lyari in the city police force, consequent to required trials after Ashura.

Addressing the prize distribution ceremony for winners in the second semi-finals of Inter-Mohallah Lyari Football Tournament, being organized by the commissioner office of Karachi in collaboration with National Bank of Pakistan at Lyari Football Ground, he said youth in Karachi have to be actively involved in healthy recreational activities.

"This is with particular reference to sports that hold positive impact on their entire personality," he said.

Shahid Hayat Khan said sports that had always been an essential part of our society was deliberately ignored during past few years and this consequently turned a sizable number of local youth towards activities that were not only detrimental to them but for the entire community.

Hayat also the Additional Inspector General of Sindh Police on the occasion sought close coordination among all stakeholders to promote sports activities in the metropolis.

Highly appreciative of the efforts made by Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui for promoting sports activities, he hoped that Karachi would soon be able to witness fresh faces of football stalwarts as Ali Nawaz, Captain Omer, Abdul Ghafoor, Abdullah Rahi and others.

The ceremony was also attended by KMC Municipal Commissioner, Samiuddin Siddiqui, Director Local Government, Rubina Asif, Chief Coordinator of the Tournament, Ghulam Mohammad Khan and office bearers of Karachi District Football association.

Shahid Hayat later handed a cash prize of Rs.50,000 to the Chakiwara Eleven, winners of the second semi-final of the tournament.

He invited the tournament organizer Ghulam Mohammad Khan, himself a senior foot ball player, to organize All Karachi Police Gold Cup Football Tournament in the last week of November.

Municipal Commissioner of Karachi Municipal Corporation, Samiuddin Siddiqui on the occasion said 10 participating teams of Inter Mohallah Lyari Football Tournament will be awarded cash prizes by KMC.

He also announced to hold KMC Football Tournament in December with further improvement in the facilities existent at the Lyari Football Ground.
