ISLAMABAD: The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations have banned fuelling of vehicles displaying fake CNG cylinder test stickers, says Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, Chairman Supreme Council All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA).
Talking to APP, he said some CNG cylinder testing labs and transporters had collaborated in illegal activity of issuing fake stickers, which needed to be discouraged.
He said the association would support the government if it took action against those labs and transporters in order to ensure transparency and conduct the campaign in an effective way.
Thus, he added the association had passed the directions to CNG stations to ban the fuelling of vehicles displaying fake test stickers.
He further said that APCNGA had different opinion than that of regulatory authority regarding the number and positions of the cylinders.
He also expressed concern over state of affairs in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) asked the government to reconstruct the authority.
As per the provisions of the law the regulator must have nod of the three out of the four members on the Ogra Board to reach any decision, but it has only two members for the last one and a half year, he said.
"At least three members on the Ogra board must agree to give legal cover to a decision but currently all the decisions were being taken by Chairman Ogra and Member Oil. The Board should be completed immediately," he demanded.
He alleged the authority's top officials could not do any good job for the masses taking heavy toll on oil and gas sectors.
Besides, he added, there are many other important vacancies lying vacant in the Ogra where officials putting hurdles to delay work one pretext or the other.
Thus, he demanded of the government to revive Ogra by appointing honest and competent officials or promoting officers on merit to streamline working of regulator and settle issues pending since long.
He said restoration of Ogra had become imperative as country has been facing worst energy crisis which cannot be overcome in presence of an impotent regulator where professional and competent officers have been side-lined, he said.
The leader of the CNG sector said that eighty million people using CNG directly or indirectly have been paying price illegalities committed by Ogra top brass, blatant violation of Ogra Ordinance despite Supreme Court's directives and inaction of the authorities since long.
