LAHORE: A 40-member large business delegation from Taiwan is likely to visit Pakistan in September this year to further strengthen two-way trade and economic relation.
Taiwan Trade Center (TAITARA) Director Abraham stated this, while talking to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry at LCCI on Monday.
LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar, LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad, former President Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman and others were also present.
The TAITARA Director said that Taiwan Trade Center would consider opening up of its liaison office either in Karachi or Islamabad with an objective to facilitate businessmen of the both sides.
"The TAITRA may open its liaison office to carry out business activities and accelerate the pace of momentum for interaction between business communities of both the countries," he said, adding that negotiations in this regard were well on way with the ministries of Finance and Commerce.
He said the visit of Taiwan businessmen aimed to identify available trade opportunities so that they could make more investment in Pakistan.
Taiwan was already doing a lot of business in Pakistan, therefore, Pakistani business community should also consider putting their money in business ventures in Taiwan particularly in the field of auto parts, textile machinery, steel products, ball-bearings, coils, UPS (Uniterrupted Power System) and solar power products.
While, the LCCI President urged the TAITARA and Taiwan government to consider granting visas on arrival to Pakistani businessmen as non-availability of Taiwani mission in Pakistan was hitting the business community hard as they had to go to Hong Kong first for getting a visa. Soon after the visit of 40-member Taiwani business delegation, he said, the LCCI would also arrange a business delegation to Taiwan.
Farooq Iftikhar also called for strengthening the banking channels so that the business community could be able to do business with each other.
The LCCI President assured all possible cooperation and assistance to make the Taiwanese business visit a success, adding that it would also help expand existing volume of trade between the two countries.
