PA elects Shahbaz Sharif as 24th CM, for third time

imageLAHORE: Punjab Assembly (PA) Thursday elected Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif as 24th Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab for the third time with 300 votes while his sole rival from PTI, Mehmood ur Rasheed got 34 votes.

Polling for the Chief Minister was held during the Punjab Assembly session with Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan in the chair here.

PML-N and PTI had nominated Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Mian Mehmood ur Rashid respectively as candidates for the slot of Chief Minister, while PPP had already decided not to take part in the election.

The newly elected Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will take oath during a ceremony at the Governor's house scheduled for 6:00 pm today.
