ecpISLAMABAD: The Elections Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday registered the Pakistan Peoples Party in the name of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and allotted '2 swords' as election symbol.

The ECP turned down pleas of Ghinwa Bhutto and Naheed Khan in this regard.

The ECP dismissed Naheed Khan's plea for not submitting the complete documents.

The commission had already allotted electoral symbol of `arrow' to the PPP-Parliamentarians.

The ECP said that from the arguments of the counsel and perusal of documents, it was convinced that the PPP and the PPP-Parliamentarians were separate parties.

It said that the Pakistan Peoples Party represented by Latif Khosa as its Secretary General had demanded 'sword' as its election symbol. "The symbol 'sword' was delisted from the symbols by the government and recently '2 swords' had been included in the symbols' list.

"The commission, therefore, allots '2 swords' to Pakistan Peoples Party," the judgement said.

The commission rejected Ghinwa Bhutto's plea and said that no symbol could be allotted to her. However, symbol of 'fist' allotted to her would enable to contest elections 2013 under PPP-Shaheed Bhutto umbrella.

The ECP also turned down the application of Jahangir Badr for registering the PPP, who had admitted that he had turned up as senator on the PPPP's ticket.

"This being the position, neither he can become a member of another party at the same time nor he can form a separate party. On this ground alone, his application of registration of PPP and enlisting it with ECP is misconceived and accordingly dismissed," the ECP decision said.
