Romania operator expects little change to 2013 nuclear output

BUCHAREST: Romania's Nuclearelectrica expects power output at its Cernavoda plant in 2013 to be in line with last year's level, the state-controlled nuclear power operator said on Monday.

It estimates the plant's two units will produce 11,471 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity in 2013 versus 11,466 GWh last year.

Output fell by more than 2 percent in 2012, the company said in an email.

Nuclearelectrica has two 706 megawatt reactors at Cernavoda, accounting for roughly one fifth of the country's power production. It aims to add two more units by 2020.
