Published June 16, 2020 Updated June 16, 2020 03:37am

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Monday adopted a historic resolution to make it mandatory for all to add words 'Khatimun Nabiyeen' to the beginning of the name of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The resolution received a unanimous vote in the house, as the mover, MQM's Muhammad Hussain Khan, proposed that the title 'Khatimun Nabiyeen' must be placed before the name of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) whenever and wherever the Holy Prophet's Muhammad's (PBUH) name is written.

Opposition leader in the house, Firdous Shamim Naqvi from PTI, said the chapter of prophethood stood closed for ever with the arrival of the last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), adding that the government should introduce a law to make it mandatory for publishers to ensure printing prefix 'Khatimun Nabiyeen' to the name of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in every book. Qasim Fakhri of TLP supported the very resolution while Shamim Mumtaz of the ruling PPP said that there shall be no prophet to succeed Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The house also passed a resolution, asking the Sindh government to approach the federal government to recommend Saudi Arabia to reconstruct the grave of Hazrat Fatima (RA) in Janatul Baqeeh. Supporting the resolution, PPP's Shabbir Bijrani and Riaz Shah Sherazi offered to bear the reconstruction cost. Muhammad Hussain also extended his support to the move. The house adopted it unanimously. The house stands adjourned till June 17, 2020, Wednesday when the fiscal budget for 2020-21 will be tabled.
