TALLINN: Estonia's main oil loading port, Tallinn, handled 1.49 million tonnes of mostly oil products in September, down 21.7 percent from the 1.8 million tonnes loaded a year earlier, it said on Friday.
Tallinn Port has said that fall in oil loadings was due to the Russian fuel oil going to a new terminal at Ust-Luga in Russia's north west. Russia's Ust-Luga oil terminal opened in Autumn of 2011.
Total oil loadings for the first nine months of 2012 were 26.2 percent lower at 14.8 million tonnes compared with 20 million tonnes loaded in the same period of 2011.
Fuel oil from Russia accounted for 65.8 percent of all the goods handled by the port in the first nine months of 2012.
Total cargo handled by the port in the first nine months of this year was 22.5 million tonnes, down 18.3 percent year on year, the port said in a statement.
