Russia Oct crude duty seen up 6.4pc to $418.9 per ton

Published Updated

crude-oilMOSCOW: Russia's oil export duty for October is expected to rise by 6.4 percent to $418.9 per tonne from $393.8 in September following an increase in oil prices, according to calculations by the Finance Ministry and Reuters.

The government officially announces the export duty - the single largest tax item in companies' financials - at the end of each month.

The rate for October will be based on the monitoring of seaborne Urals crude oil prices between Aug. 15 and Sept. 14 inclusively.

The average price for the period was up to $113.98 per barrel from $108.25 in the previous corresponding period, Finance Ministry official Alexander Sakovich told Reuters on Monday.

At the discounted rate applied to crude oil produced at newer fields in eastern Siberia, Gazprom's Prirazlomnoye Arctic oilfield - yet to be launched - and two fields operated by LUKOIL in the Caspian Sea, the duty for October should be $210.1 per tonne compared with $191.3 per tonne in September.

Exporters of high-viscosity crude will pay $41.8 per tonne next month, up from $39.3 per tonne in September.

Under a duty regime designed to encourage production of high-value petroleum products while discouraging fuel oil output, the duty on light products and middle distillates, with the exception of gasolines, should be increased to $276.4 in September from $259.9 per tonne this month.

Protective duty rates on gasolines, introduced by the government in May 2011 to protect domestic supply, should rise to $377 versus $354.4 per tonne in September.
