Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures inched higher on Thursday for a fourth straight session on technical buying and bargain buying following multi-month lows set earlier this week, traders said.
CBOT March soyabeans settled up 1 cent at $8.81 per bushel.
CBOT March soyameal ended up 80 cents at $288.20 per short ton while March soyaoil ended down 0.08 cent at 31.24 cents per pound.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported export sales of US soyabeans in the week ended Jan. 30 at 707,900 tonnes (old and new crop years combined), in line with trade expectations.
But weekly sales of US soyabeans to China fell to a five-month low amid concerns about the spread of the deadly coronavirus denting demand from the world's top soya buyer.
Market pressure noted from the USDA's announcement that its monthly supply/demand report on Feb. 11 will not include details about China's purchase commitments from the US-China Phase 1 trade deal signed last month.
A USDA attache report released on Wednesday projected Brazil's soyabean harvest at 124.5 million tonnes, above the USDA's official forecast of 123.0 million.
