CBOT corn futures fall on firm dollar

Published Updated

Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ended lower on Thursday, shrugging off robust weekly export sales data as traders focused on a stronger US dollar and uncertain future demand, traders said.

CBOT March corn settled down 1-1/2 cents at $3.79-1/4 per bushel after dipping to $3.76, its lowest level since January 16.

The US Department of Agriculture reported export sales of US corn in the week ended Jan. 30 at 1.34 million tonnes (old and new crop years combined) toward the high end of trade combined-year expectations for 700,000 to 1.45 million tonnes.
