Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soyabean futures slid on Friday, touching on an 11-week low, on technical selling and the market continued to monitor US-China trade talks, traders said.

The market was also less than impressed with a jump in recent soyabean export sales between the two countries, three traders said.

Trade tensions resurfaced after China rebuked US President Donald Trump's decision to ratify a bill backing protesters in Hong Kong.

CBOT January soyabeans settled down 5-1/4 cents at $8.76-3/4 per bushel, the contract's lowest since September 10.

CBOT January soyameal ended down $3.10 at $293.10 per short ton and January soyaoil rose 0.08 cent to 30.58 cents per pound.

Weekly US soyabean export sales of 1.7 million tonnes were above analysts estimates for 600,000 to 1.2 million tonnes. The USDA reported that China bought 831,200 tonnes last week, including 466,000 tonnes switched from unknown destinations.

Improving South American crop weather, with welcome rains expected in Brazil, continues to add pressure to the US soyabean futures market.
