PPP govt taken initiatives for creation of new jobs for youth: Firdous

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that Pakistan Peoples Party government has always initiated private public partnership schemes and encouraged private sector to provide employment opportunities to the youth.

Addressing as chief guest at concluding session of National Workshop on "Contemporary Issues of youth employment in Pakistan",the minister said that youth needs to be properly educated, kept healthy and trained and their energies should be channelized in positive manner to achieve the overall developmental objectives of the country.

"I believe if youth of Pakistan properly equipped to deal with the challenges of the new age can bring all laurels to the country", she added.

Our great leader Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohatarma Benazir Bhutto realized the scenario and worked towards creation of more employment opportunities for youth,she said adding that more jobs were given to youth during the PPP government.

She said that no country can provide public sector employment to all eligible citizens."Strong economies are built upon public private partnership to provide economic opportunities.

The recently launched Waseela-e-Haq initiative for small loans to women entrepreneurs as well as Waseela-e-Rozgar programme for provision of vocational and technical training have been launched under the umbrella of Benazir Income Support Programme,the minister said.

Dr Firdous said that with fifth budget of the present government approaching,all the ministries have been advised to create job opportunities for the graduated youth so that maximum jobs can be given to unemployed youth in the country.

The Minister appreciated ILO, UNDP and UNFPA for taking up this initiative to arrange the workshop when everyone is looking towards Pakistan and we need to show the world that Pakistan is serious about the development of its youth and their positive contribution in society.
