SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were down slightly in early trade Monday as investors awaited direction amid mixed US economic data and hopes Beijing could further loosen monetary policy.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, slid 0.24 percent, or 5.81 points, to 2,398.93.
