Top court acquits accused of murder

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday acquitted two accused of murdering two brothers in Karachi by giving them a benefit of doubts.

A three member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khosa announced the judgment on appeal of accused Muhammad Awais and Shabir Ahmed challenging the death sentence decision of high court.

The both persons were accused of killing two brothers Naeem and Nadeem on October 23, 2005. An additional session court Karachi had announced a death penalty to the accused persons on murder charges.

The Sindh High Court also maintained the judgment of lower court.

The accused had stated in their appeal to the top court that their names were not mentioned initially into first information report (FIR) which was registered against unknown persons.

Later, the two accused had been involved into investigation process of the murder case.

The top court, however, acquitted the accused by giving them a benefit of doubt.
