ISLAMABAD: The 4th meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning Development and Reformwas held in the Parliament House, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Junaid Akbar, MNA on Tuesday.

The Committee unanimously confirmed minutes of its previous meeting held on 14th March, 2019. The Ministry gave a compliance report regarding the recommendations of the previous meeting but the committee being not satisfied by the briefing related with agriculture; and thus recommended that the more comprehensive briefing regarding failures of all previous plansand reasons thereof in the next Committee meeting.

The representative of the Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform, briefed about CPEC projects in detail.

While discussing the projects of CPEC Honorable Members raised concerns over exclusion of areas of FATA and Buner from CPEC projects and lack of PSDP projects in the said areas therefore the Committee recommended that areas of FATA and Buner should be included in CPEC related projects and projects of PSDP.

In response to this the representative of the Ministry assured the Committee that industrial zones will be created in FATA under CPEC.  Furthermore, the Committee recommended that the representatives of the Provincial Government shall be called in the next meeting for further deliberations on the devolved matters.

The Committee further recommendedthat the Provincial Governments take the Committee in confidence while making projects related with CPEC.

Members/MNAs Mr. Sher Akbar Khan, Mr. Saleh Muhammad, Mr. Shaukat Ali, Syed Faiz Ul Hassan, Mr. NawabSher, Dr. SeemiBukhari, Mr. Muhammad Sajjad, Sardar Muhammad IrfanDogar, Mr. Naveed Dero, Syed Agha Rafiullah, Mr. Abdul Shakoor and senior officers from the Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform attended the meeting.
