HYDERABAD: The acting President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Sindh chapter Haleem Adil Shaikh Thursday said Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced a historic poverty alleviation program 'Ehsaas'.
Speaking at a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club, Sheikh said the program would help to reduce poverty in the country. "Imran Khan will soon embark on the Sindh tour to launch the drive against corruption in Sindh," he told.
He informed that the PTI's government would soon bring constitutional amendments to provide food, clothes, and housing, education and healthcare facilities as the constitutional responsibility of the government to the citizens.
He said the Prime Minister had initiated programs for women, senior citizens, transgenders and youth and proved that he was the real representative of the people.
He recalled that when the PM visited Tharparkar earlier in March and he announced health cards for 275,000 families of the district.
Sheikh said under the leadership of Imran Khan, Pakistan was moving on the path of progress and prosperity.
The PTI Sindh's leader said during last 10 years, Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Sindh government received hundreds of billions of rupees in the federal transfers of funds so that the provincial government could serve the people of Sindh. However, he regretted, the PPP's government failed to serve the poor.
Sheikh also criticized the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari led ongoing train march.
"We took out Defense of Pakistan march earlier this month and (in reaction) they have staged a Defense of [PPP co-chairman and form President Asif] Zardari’s corruption march," he commented. He maintained that Bilawal's train march was aimed to save his family and corrupt ministers in the provincial government.
"The march proved that the people of Sindh didn't respond to the PPP's call," he contended. He alleged that misappropriation of Rs 975 billion of public funds had been reported in Sindh.
The PTI leaders Khawand Bux Jahejo, Imran Qureshi, Lala Aminullah Moosakhel, Mohsin Ghuman and others were present on the occasion.
