Govt to make Islamia College world class institution

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said the provincial government would leave no stone unturned to make Islamia College a world class institution of education and contemporary knowledge.

He said this at the foundation stone laying ceremony of IT Innovation Research Center at Islamia College here Tuesday.

The CM KP also announced Rs. 50 million grant for the university and said it was very pleasant for him to be at the campus since he was a college alumnus.

He said the modernization of the historic institution was a source of pride for him as well as for the provincial government.

He said the provincial government had waged a war against ice addiction in educational institutions of the province, adding the government was making investment in education and youth keeping in view their importance for the development and progress of the country.

He said the province had suffered badly during the past more than a decade and now everyone should play his due role for peace.

Mahmood Khan said the politics of certain people using name of Pashtun for their own interest was over.

Pashtuns want peace, harmony and development and the provincial government would ensure to deliver in consonance with the people’s aspirations, the CM said.

On the occasion, Director Planning and Development Islamia College Zahoor Jan briefed the CM about the innovation center. FWO and college officials also signed a memorandum of understandings.

Special Assistant to CM on Science and Information Technology Kamran Bangash, Member Standing Committee for Higher Education Arbab Waseem, Lt. General and Ex-Governor Ali Muhammad Jan Orkazai, Vice Chancellor Islamia College University Peshawar Professor Dr. Habib, Major General Ehsan, Brig. Muhammad Ishfaq Matla, MPA Pir Fida, Secretary Higher education and others also present on the occasion.
