PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad Sunday said that as desired by the Prime Minister Imran Khan steps have been taken for the restoration of historical Dargai Railways Track after a long 25-years and Nowshera-Dargai train shuttle would be made operational from April 30.

He said this while talking to reporters during his visit to inspect current ongoing work for the restoration of Nowshera-Dargai Railways Track. Minister of State for Political Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan was also present on this occasion. He said it would be ensured that shuttle service between Nowshera-Dargai would start again by April 30, 2019.

It will be another landmark step taken by the govt in the light of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to provide cheaper transport facilities to general public after starting of the shuttle services between Nowshera-Dargai. Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid disclosed with the support of Provincial govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dargai-Karachi, Attock and Kundian tracks would also be restored and rehabilitate on priority basis.

“We are going to create 10,000 jobs in Railways and soon it would be a profitable organization,” the Federal Minister added. He said steps have been taken for the developing of double track of 1700km between Peshawar and Karachi so to run a 160km per hour train. With the improvement of Railways, economics activities would increase, he said, adding, “ Fourteen years back I was the person started ML-I with China and after completion of the ML-I which further shorten the distance between Rawalpindi and Karachi.

For the promotion of tourism in Khyber Pakthunkhwa, he said, four locomotives will be given besides rehabilitating the old tracks so to ensure safe passage to the general public.

He said a request in this connection have already been made to Chief Minister to take on time steps for removing all hurdles in way of the railway track.

Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid said that railways is a key role in pollution free environment and economics corridor and that is why they have setup a target of Rs. 10 billions saving and so far they have reached to Rs. 4 billion saving. He said with the grace of Almighty Allah the set target would be achieved in the due course of time.

He said three more trains each from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be included in the main fleet besides steps would be taken for the removing of encroachment on both side of the track across the country. “No encroachment would be allowed near railway tracks,” he warned.

He said we believe in democratic norms and have struggled for the supremacy of democracy in the country. “When we decided to go for a train march the then govt did not allow us but now we are providing train to Bilawal Bhutto Zardhari,” he said.

He said they have restored all the trains phase wise that have been closed after the assassination of Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto.
