MULTAN: Punjab government will spend Rs 100 millions on repair and renovation of temples and churches, located in south Punjab.
This was stated by PTI MPA Mahindar Pal Singh, in a ceremony about distribution of cheques of scholarships to students hailing from minorities, at Raza hall, here on Wednesday. Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf leadership is strictly following teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah especially for minorities rights. Prime Minister Imran Khan wished that minorities should enjoy liberty to worship as per vision of Quaid-e-Azam, said Mahinder Pal Singh.
MPA Mahinder Pal Singh stated that PTI government was committed to abolish deprivations of the minorities by extending maximum facilities. He informed that Punjab government provided scholarships to 60 students so that they would improve their education.
The government decided to put immense focus on education of the minorities. He informed recently Punjab government recruited nearly 10,000 doctors across the province. The total quota for the minorities was 196 but there were only two doctors available against the quota. Mahinder Singh stressed upon minorities to focus on education also.
About government funds for Holi festival of Hindu Community, Mahinder Pal maintained that Punjab government increased funds to tune of 10 millions instead of Rs 5 millions in past. The cheques to the poor hindus would be distributed within next few days, he added. PTI leadership is very much concerned to rights of minorities as it recently removed one minister from important slot.
Mahinder Pal also lauded Pakistan army role in promotion of peace and safeguarding country's. Pakistan gave immense respect to minorities and he himself was ready to sacrifice for cause of dear homeland. Additional District Collector Tanvir Yazdan also spoke and assured of every possible facility towards the minorities.
Hindu leader Jolly Chaudhry also highlighted the history of Holi festival. Holi, the festival of colour commenced from Multan, he said adding that he was happy as he belonged to the city. He informed that the holi, was actually victory of good against evil.
Another Hindu leader Shakuntla Devi made prayer for progress, and prosperity of the country. She also lauded local citizens as government as they always participated in their festival and extended complete security.
A cake cutting ceremony to mark Holi festival was also arranged. On this occasion, cheque of Rs 15,000 was given to each student of matric. Similarly, Rs 20,000 to F.A, Rs 30,000 to Graduate, Rs 35,000 M.A and Rs 50,000 to students of different professions were delivered.
