HARIPUR: Federal Minister for Water and Power Omer Ayub Khan Monday said Wapda would import electricity from Tajikistan to overcome electricity shortfall in the country.

“To overcome the electricity shortfall, we would import electricity from Tajikistan and will also improve our production,” he said this while addressing a public gathering at a neighboring village of Haripur.

The Minister further said that we are also working hard to stop electricity’s theft and would soon install meters in all 860000 transformers across the country to identify electricity pilferage.

Talking about the completion of the Khanpur road Omer Ayub Khan said that I have discussed the matter with the Chairman National Highways Authority (NHA) and the road from Chichian to Panyan, and Julian to Jandal including the small bridges and railway crossing would soon be constructed.

The minister stated that all basic needs of life would be provided to people of Haripur and sui-gas facility to every street and village.

While accepting the demands of the people, Omer Ayub Khan said the issue of low voltage and unscheduled load-shedding would be resolved through the provision of new feeders, construction of grid stations and new transformers.

The Minister announced up-gradation of the girls’ school, reserve quota of employment for locals in Haripur university, provision of electricity poles and water supply schemes.
