KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has said that disabled and special persons are an important segment of our society.
He was talking to a delegation of blind teachers of colleges of Sindh at the C.M. House here on Monday.
Qaim Ali Shah pointed out that the present government has increased and doubled the quota in government jobs for the disabled persons while the outstanding and qualified persons are being provided incentives as per their abilities.
He added that all genuine problems faced to the blind teachers and other disabled persons will be solved on priority basis.
Head of delegation, Ms. Hafiza, informed the Chief Minister Sindh that there are eight college teachers working in Sindh province and impart education to students through Braille.
She informed that Braille courses/classes were introduced in 1954.
She maintained that the blind teachers are not being provided facilities and promotions.
Secretary SZABIST and Chairman Sindh Graduates Association, Dr. Suleman Sheikh, said that special persons particularly the teachers are extending their services in very odd reasons and conditions, as such more incentives be extended to blind teachers.
Special Secretary Education Department, Riaz Ahmed Memon, presented detailed briefing about the subject matter.
Chief Minister Sindh directed that an urgent meeting of Law Department, Education Department and concerned officers be held to resolve bottlenecks and a meeting of board be convened to finalize cases of promotions and other incentives.
The meeting was attended among others by Special Secretary Education Department, Riaz Ahmed Memon, Secretary to C.M. Sindh Agha Jan Akhtar, Dr. Suleman Shaikh, Ms. Hafiza, Ms. Sarwat Khan, Tariq Riaz.
