Brazil posts Jan. current account deficit at $7.086bn

BRASILIA: Brazil posted a current account deficit of $7.086 billion in January, wider than the gap it registered in December , central bank data showed on Thursday.

The country had been expected to post a deficit of $6.95 billion, according to the median forecast of 10 analysts in a Reuters survey. The forecasts for the deficit ranged from $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion.

Brazil's current account deficit in December was $6.04 billion, the central bank said last month.
