Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over what he called unfair allotment of party tickets and taking u-turn on important issues. While addressing a gathering in Lahore as a part of election campaign, Saad said Imran is not the leader of youth. He (Imran) should tell public how many youngsters have been awarded with party tickets, he added.
Under the leadership of Imran Khan, tickets are available for people like Firdous Ashiq Awan and Nazar Gondal and only votes are for the youth, he added.
Saad claimed that the PML-N government worked for the betterment of people.
"We had promised to overcome load-shedding and terrorism, and initiating development work in 2013. Now there is peace in the country including Karachi. Load-shedding has been reduced as over 10,000MW of electricity was produced while huge developmental work was initiated during our tenure," he said.
He said the PML-N is approaching the people in 2018 elections on the basis of its performance and we are optimistic that the PML-N will win the elections.
"We will not opt for the revenge policy and carry forward the agenda of development and the country's progress," he said. Moreover, as per details of assets submitted by Saad Rafique in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he owns assets worth Rs 178.413 million.
Saad Rafique and his brother Khawaja Salman Rafique have an ancestral home. Saad owns house in Defence Housing Authority Phase-II in Lahore worth Rs 48.2 million and two 16-kanal houses in Cantt, Lahore, worth Rs 34,680,590 and Rs 34,595,523. He is also the owner of Saadian Associates Marketing and Consultancy in DHA that is worth Rs 29.8 million.
Saad has a sum of Rs 14 million in prize bonds and cash while his bank balance is only Rs 1.5 million. He also has furniture worth Rs 2.5 million. Saad Rafique has mentioned himself as husband of two wives, Ghazala Saad and Shafaq Hera, and father of two daughters and one son.
In 2015, Saad Rafique earned Rs 22.6 million and paid Rs 2.9 million in taxes while in 2017 he paid Rs 5.2 million in taxes on his income of Rs 39.8 million. He also owns shares worth Rs 11.5 million and took loan of Rs 29.5 million from a cousin.
