The eligible voters can verify the status of their votes in the computerized voter lists prepared by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by just sending an SMS via their mobile phones. Election Commission said that this SMS verification service had been launched in February 2012 in collaboration with cellular operators, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
ECP said that the registered voters can check their records through a single SMS. Simply send your CNIC (without dashes) to 8300; an automated response will be received in this regard with the name of electoral area, CNIC number; block code and serial number.
Election Commission said that it has purposefully not included the voters' name and home address to avoid any privacy violations. The service had already won international award (ICPS Award 2013). An International Parliamentary Organization ICPS acknowledged ECP's Services for the innovative use of technology (8300 SMS Service) in Electoral Process. This Win was announced at the International Electoral Awards 2013 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
