Pakistan People's Party leader Shehla Raza, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Aamir Liaquat and Muttahida Qaumi Movement's Kamran Tissori were cleared to contest the next general polls as respective Returning Officers (RO) have accepted their nomination papers, here on Monday.
As per the Election Commission of Pakistan's revised schedule, the deadline for scrutiny process of the nomination papers will end by Tuesday evening as further extension in the date for scrutiny was not announced by the ECP till the filing of the report.
"By the grace of Almighty Allah, nomination paper accepted NA-243," tweeted Shehla Raza, former Sindh Assembly deputy speaker who has vowed to knock out rival parties contestants especially the PTI chairman Imran Khan.
The nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N's Kausar Shaheen were accepted for the PS-127 constituency where MQM's Kamran Tissori has also been cleared to contest. His nomination for the PS-104 election was also approved after scrutiny. Nomination papers of PTI leader Aamir Liaquat for Karachi's NA-245 constituency and Mehboob Abbasi of PTI for PS-100 have been accepted.
Asghar Bihari of PPP has been cleared to contest election for NA-245. For NA-239, MQM's Farrukh Raza Advocate and PPP's Imran Abidi have been cleared as their nomination papers were accepted. "PS-99 is my constituency, PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh asserted after his nomination papers were also accepted.
MQM leader Rauf Siddiqui, PSP's Sabir Gola and an independent contender Shoukat Khokhar have been cleared as the ROs accepted their nomination papers for NA-244 constituency
It is relevant to add that June 22 was set last date for filing appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers by the ROs whereas June 27 was the last date for a decision on the appeals by election tribunals. General elections will be held on July-25. Reports had it over 12000 nomination papers were filed by the candidates.
