The Karachi Port handled 165,900 tonnes of cargo comprising 119,187 tonnes of import cargo and 46,713 tonnes of export cargo including 4,546 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 119,187 tonnes comprised of 31,445 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,121 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,800 tonnes of rock phosphate; 27,400 tonnes of coal; 12,121 tonnes of DAP and 40,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,713 tonnes comprised of 28,735 tonnes of containerised cargo 4,978 tonnes of wheat and 13,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,546 containers comprising of 2,155 containers import and 2,391 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 765 of 20's and 625 of 40's loaded while 24 of 20's and 58 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 867 of 20's and 238 of 40's loaded containers while 530 of 20's and 259 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Kota Karim, JPO Atair and Grand Pace carrying containers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. CMA CGM Fidelio, MSC Jasmine, Kota Karim, Sufolk Trader, YM Cypress, BW Mia and Amis Hero carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 106,375 tonnes of import cargo was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 106,375 tonnes includes 52,042 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,420 tonnes of palm oil; 3,600 tonnes of bitumen; 18,276 tonnes of canola; 13,973 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 5,064 tonnes of chemical.
There were three ships namely CV MOL Generosity, MV Valadon and MV Royal Princess carrying containers, canola seeds and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MV Bunga Lilac and MT Al Thakhira carrying chemical and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Al Ghero, CV MSC Memphis, CV MOL Generosity, MV Valadon, MV Navios Centarus, MV Royal Princess, MT Al Thakhira, MT Cape Troy and MT Hydroussa were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely MV Reem-3, MV New Able, MV Ken Wave, MV Sun Rise, MV Amadeus, MV Slahla, MV Coventry, MV Bunga Lilac, MT Jo Pinari, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Ibela, MT Sovereign, MT Komome Victoria and MT Al-Soor-II carrying bitumen, steel coil, cement, barge, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, Mo Gas, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Tempasos, CV Xi Hong Kong, CV Spring Hawk, MV Ken Wave and MT LNG Express carrying containers, cement and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
