Hattar Industrial Zone: KPEZDMC officials' alleged involvement in land scam being probed
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated inquiry into corruption and malpractices of those officials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) and others who were allegedly involved in allocation, allotment and sale of plots in and other matters.
According to sources privy to KPEZDMC, the company has already received a letter from the national anti-graft agency for provision of information under Section 19 of the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), 1999 for inquiry against officers and officials of the company and others regarding corruption and corrupt practices. The letter addressing the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company informed him of NAB (KP province chapter)'s probe under the provisions of the NAO, 1999 and also sought documents/information useful or relevant to the inquiry, if there is any, in the COO's control or if he is acquainted with facts and circumstances of the case.
The NAB authorities asked him to provide eight required information including approved policy regarding allocation, allotment and sale of plots in Hattar Industrial Zone. It also sought complete details regarding received applications, allotted plots and related working papers including details of applications which were rejected. It sought complete details of individuals to whom plots were sold and the documents related to approval/ ascertainment of per acre price of plots. The NAB KP also sought details of plots which were not sold till to date. It sought details of Industrial Policy 2016; details of Amnesty Scheme & Revision of rates and; complete files of the industries, which got benefit from the Amnesty Scheme and revision of rates to a designated investigation officer of the bureau.
The notice is issued under Section 19 of the NAO, 1999, which says that anyone who fails to provide information/record requisition or knowingly provides false information/record or refuses to answer the question shall be liable for prosecution under NAO, 1999.
