The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has launched the academic sessions 'Meet the Expert' at Lahore Fort on Saturday. The first session was held on Conservation of 17th Century Royal Kitchen inside Lahore Fort. Almost 200 students from the top universities of Pakistan participated in this session along with professional architects and related faculties. The session explained the conservation techniques, stages and process of the conservation of the site. The participants were also given a detailed tour of the site and they were able to see the labour working there.
While talking to media, WCLA DG Kamran Lashari said that learning is a never ending process and that is why they have started these 'Meet the Expert' sessions to engage students and professionals in the ongoing conservation works of the Lahore Fort. "We will have these sessions on fortnightly basis at Lahore Fort and I hope that students and professionals will gain good knowledge out of these sessions. We have also invited the feedback and comments on our ongoing projects from the participants and I am sure that it will help us in our planning," he added. WCLA Director Conservation Najam-us-Saqib said this was the first session and they had a good number of students along with some professionals of the field. "I think we should regularly have such sessions with the younger generation and professionals so that we build our own resource in terms of conservation and restoration of manpower and skills," he added.
