The Karachi Port handled 184,031 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,825 tonnes of import cargo and 81,206 tonnes of export cargo including 6,879 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of v tonnes comprised of 36,804 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,227 tonnes of general cargo; 18,501 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 12,300 tonnes of rock phosphate; 6,201 tonnes of soyameal and 40,293 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 81,206 tonnes comprised of 64,176 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo; 5,830 tonnes of wheat and 11,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,879 containers comprising of 2,769 containers import and 4,110 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 726 of 20's and 881 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 139 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,578 of 20's and 623 of 40's loaded containers while 94 of 20's and 596 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Sydney Trader, Athens Bridge, FPMC-21, STI Executive and Glovis Spirit carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Ever Delight, Houston Express, YM Orchid, Reem-3, MT Karachi and Nave Polaris carrying containers, bitumen, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 255,945 tonnes comprising 236,128 tonnes of import cargo and 19,817 tonnes of export cargo including 3,425 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 236,128 tonnes includes 7,500 tonnes of LNG; 50,960 tonnes of diesel oil; 14,419 tonnes of palm oil; 12,644 tonnes of canola seeds; 14,925 tonnes of chemical; 67,890 tonnes of coal; 20,358 tonnes of steel coil; 2,174 tonnes of project cargo and 45,258 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,817 tonnes includes 19,817 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,425 containers comprising of 2,382 containers import and 1,043 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were three ships namely MV Young Harmony, MT Ejnan and MT Glorious carrying coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely MV DA Liang and MV Union Explorer carrying general cargo and bulk cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV Maersk Atlanta, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Kobe Star, MV Da Liang, MV Young Harmony, MV Union Explorer, MV Hony Future, MV Daphne, MV Sky Ploeg, MT Ejnan, MT Glorious and MT Chemroad Mega were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, steel coil, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely MV Mu Main, MV Panorama, MT Star Sirious, MV Spring Cosmos, MT Maria-III, MT Quetta, MT Lion-M, MT Brizo, MT Constantinos, MT Argent Aster and MT Chemroute Sun carrying general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. MV Mu Mian, MV Celsius Miami, MV Spring Cosmos, MT Lion-M and MT Ras Tanora carrying general cargo, coal, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were four ships namely CV CMA CGM Indus, CV CCNI Arauco, CV Hugo Schulte and MT Quetta carrying containers and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
There are four ships namely CV Suez Canal, CV Tucapel, CV Prosper and MV BBC Nile carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
