The Chairman Qaumi Watan Party, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, has said that Pakistan is a sovereign country and it would not take dictation from any side. He said that Pakistan has independent foreign policy, it had got every right to protect its national interests therefore it would not allow any power to undermine its independent status at any cost.
He was addressing a mammoth gathering at village Sherpao distract Charsadda on the eve of 43rd death anniversary of former governor KP and Pakhtoon leader Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao on Sunday. Large number of people, political leaders and party activists attended the public meeting.
He regretted the inclination of certain international powers towards India, saying that it was not acceptable and it has been a source of great concern. He said that the Pakistani nation stands good relations with all neighbors based on equality. He added that the balance of power between Pakistan and India would be essential for peace and stability in the region.
He paid rich tributes to Shaheed Hayat Muhammad Khan Sherpao for his meritorious services for the cause of Pakhtoons. He said that the Shaheed leader never compromised on principles and laid down his life for the great cause and his services would be remembered for long time in annals of history. He said that the Shaheed leader set an ideal for the generations and instilled a sense of political consciousness in people and political activists and his sacrifices enable the political workers to fight against all odds.
Sherpao lamented that the sense of deprivation amongst the smaller federating units has been on the high pedestal due to delay in NFC Award, deprivation in share of CPEC projects, restrictions on homeless tribal people in moving to other provinces and maltreatment with Pakhtoons including the killing of Naqeebullah.
He said that all demands of the Pakhtoons should be accepted who had staged the sit-in in Islamabad for their rightful demands. He also regretted the PML (N) government for its step motherly attitude towards the smaller provinces. He said that Pakistan is a federation and the federal democratic dispensation would only be viable if all the federating units were given equal treatment; however, PML (N) leadership has always trampled upon the rights of small provinces.
He said that it would be disastrous for the federation if PML (N) did not change its biased attitude. He emphasized upon the Federal Government for the early implementation of NFC award, inclusion of Pakhtoon leadership in vital decision, policy-making and consultation process.
"The confrontation with the state institution is very harmful for the country. The Focus should be made on one point agenda of general elections in 2018. It will be helpful in the continuation of the democratic process and stability of the system," he added.
Aftab Sherpao came down hard on the PTI led provincial government for its failure in fulfilling its election promises which has exposed its credentials. He said that PTI's tall claims of reforms and changes have proved to be blatant lies and the true face of its party leadership has been exposed. He said that inability of KP govt to properly plead the case of the province and Pakhtoons has resulted in adding more to their miseries and hardships. He said that the PTI led provincial govt's announced financial package for the martyrs is scant as compared to the packages announced by other provinces.
He said that the billion tree project only exists on papers where as in reality nothing of that sort has been materialized therefore nothing exits on ground. He said that it is a classic case of irregularities and misappropriation and National Accountability Bureau should thoroughly probe the matters of Ehtisab Commission of K P which is redundant and dysfunctional due to political maneuvering and interference. He said that the law and order situation in KP has deteriorated and the incidents of sexual abuse and murders are on the rise and the culprits of high profile cases of Sharifan Bibi of D I Khan and Asma Rani of Kohat are still at large, even the province has no forensic lab of its own and for every little matter the Punjab's help is sought.
He said that Qaumi Watan Party is the staunch supporter of the Pakhtoon rights and it will leave no stone unturned in safeguarding what is rightfully theirs. Qaumi Watan Party's Provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao and party's central and provincial leaders also spoke on this occasion.
