The Chief Guest Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said that I congratulate all graduates honored today with medals and received degrees. Induction of your name today in the noble profession is not merely entry to noble profession but it is a marvelous achievement for which you all had been dreaming since the years. I hope onward from now this batch of graduates will prove their worth with commitment and accepting future challenges.
He added that Medical profession has been always commanding and demanding. Commanding in sense that this profession deals with human life and thus have an over edge on all other professions. You are the fellows who can upgrade the quality of life of people by utilizing your expertise with humble attitude and sympathetic behavior. Your perfect attention can save a life and a little negligence may harm one thus every step taken by you must be perfect and above all gratifying for the patients, community, nation and country thus demanding.
The Chief Minister further expressed that if I glance over just last few years I see a marvelous progress made by Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro that witnesses the visionary thought oriented leadership. Today I am proud this premiere institutions stand in the row of world class universities. I am confident LUMHS faculty and the newly appointed Vice Chancellor will continue their efforts to coup up with the future challenges in Medical Education and Healthcare. He further added that the present atmosphere of the country compels us to look for the core cause of the social decline in the country. Among all causes, if we consider, no one is more important than literacy and education, especially at higher levels. Experts always stress upon the socioeconomic growth of the country.
He informed that the People's government has been always striving to promote health and education on top priority whether it is opening new medical colleges, hospitals, upgrading health delivery system or creating jobs for our youth. The Chief Minister concluded that that the present government and himself will extend all the possible support to this prestigious institution in completing all the under taken projects as well as future plans.
Earlier while delivering the welcome address the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Professor Bikha Ram Devrajani expressed that the graduation ceremony is the most significant and meaningful occasion in the University's calendar. Today, 499 undergraduates and 78 postgraduates will be awarded degrees and diplomas for their achievements. It means 577 Liaquatians will start a new flight for another journey. Most interestingly, out of 577 our institute is producing a significant number of 294 young female doctors and therefore empowering our daughters equally in the arena of education.
He added that I have got a vision and a fantastic team to develop Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and the nation altogether. I intend to develop the academia by providing standardized education system so the best doctors of our university could spread amongst our community and serve the sufferings. In this age of modern sciences, there is a dearth of understanding for a linkage between education and research. Also, it is my dream to bridge a gap of research and industry by underpinning the cutting edge research projects.
The Vice Chancellor further added that Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences enjoy several unique features. It is one of the oldest seats of medical learning in the country. It started as a medical school in 1850s and was raised to the status of a medical college before the independence of the country. The University through its dedicated health services earned the unique honor of the first public sector medical university of the country. Bilawal Medical College is ready to commence MBBS degree program for 100 male graduate doctors each year. This college standardizes high levels of teaching facility. It caters all requirements to be recognized as a medical college under Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. We are very much thankful to the Honorable Chief Minister to approve our request for the affiliation of Kotri Hospital with Bilawal Medical College.
