The University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Alliance Française Lahore (AFL) and Embassy of France in Pakistan to establish a branch of Alliance Française on the university premises to facilitate UVAS students interested in French language and Higher Studies in France.
Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Ambassador of France in Pakistan HE Dr Marc Baréty and President Alliance Française Lahore Shaukat Hassan signed the MoU at the UVAS City Campus on Friday. Under the MOU, the AFL branch at UVAS will offer French language courses and scientific information about France and the French Universities to UVAS students.
The UVAS and AFL will collaborate in making the branch the standard reference for French language, culture and civilisation in UVAS by regularly updating teaching materials and AFL will assist UVAS in the training of the tutor(s) while tutor(s) will be benefiting from the on-job trainings provided by Alliance Française. Both the parties will provide and maintain the teaching material for the resource centre and for the classroom each year.
The AFL director will be the in charge of coordination and communication between the two institutions. The AFL Director will define and set schedules and rates for courses in close coordination with UVAS representative. AFL in collaboration with UVAS will organise cultural activities, seminars and events in the university to groom the student on the campus.
Earlier addressing the MoU signing ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha spoke about the UVAS academic, research, extension & dairy advisory services, clinical & disease diagnostic facilities, development projects, various training programmes, national and international linkages etc. He said UVAS is working very closely with the industry to solve issues regarding disease diagnosis and vaccine production for the eradication of deadly diseases. Dr Marc Baréty showed keen interest in the area of food processing and clinical practice.
He said that this collaboration would be very beneficial in providing and exploring opportunities for UVAS students to have a bright future. UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Masood Rabbani, Dean Faculty of Biosciences Professor Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Professor Dr Kamran Ashraf, Dr Imtiaz Rabbani and other faculty memberswere present on the occasion.
