The protest sit-in of Pashtun community, especially from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), against extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in Karachi, continued here for the second consecutive day on Friday. A large number of protesters who came from different parts of FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued their sit-in in front of the National Press Club (NPC) organized by All Pashtun Qaumi Grand Jirga for the second day, demanding immediate arrest of former SSP Rao Anwar and other police officials responsible for brutal killing of Naqeebullah.
The protesters reached the federal capital on Thursday last in the form of different rallies from Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, demanding immediate arrest of Anwar. The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans including "Stop Killing of Pashtun", "Stop Genocide of Pashtun Children" and "Justice for Naqeebullah."
They said that sit-in will continue till the arrest of Anwar and others, besides the fulfilment of other demands. A heavy contingent of police was deployed on the occasion in order to avoid any untoward incident. Police also blocked some roads for traffic and also placed containers at different intersections of the city. Due to blockage of roads, motorists faced problems.
The 27-year-old Naqeebullah, a resident of South Waziristan, was among four suspects allegedly killed in a fake encounter with a police team headed by Senior Superintendent of Police Rao Anwar at Usman Khaskheli Goth in the outskirts of Karachi last week. The Pashtun Qaumi Grand Jirga earlier held ten days long sit-in in Karachi's Sohrab Goth.
