Last week I had to change the cooking hob in my kitchen. I have two hobs and I replaced the existing locally manufactured hob with an imported hob made in Italy. I noticed that the imported hob even with a smaller burner than the locally made hob would cook quickly.
On further examination, I found out that the imported hob had totally blue flames whereas the locally made hob had yellow flames mixed with blue. This goes to show that the locally made hobs are consuming more gas to give out the same heat. Why doesn't the PCSIR or gas companies do some research and suggest designs to the local manufacturers to incorporate the changes into their products. There is no rocket science involved. They just have to suggest the size of jet of the burner and mixture of gas with air. It could result in savings of at least 15 -20% gas energy.
The same could be recommended for room gas heaters. This saving would be same as if 20% gas reserves have been discovered not to mentioned the reduction of gas bill by much more than 40% in some cases depending on the amount of gas used by each consumer.
