Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Monday dismissed Lahore High Court Bar Association, Multan Bench, President Sher Zaman Qureshi's appeal, observing some of the legal fraternity members are bent upon destroying the judicial system through politics. Sher Zaman Qureshi has invoked the apex court's jurisdiction against the order of Lahore High Court which had issued his arrest warrants in contempt of court case for misbehaving with a judge of the high court.
Dismissing the appeal as infructuous, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that judicial system will not be destroyed at the hands of non-professional people. During the course of proceedings, the Chief Justice remarked that some lawyers are bent upon destroying the judicial system through politics.
Heading a three-member bench Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar expressed strong exception over maligning of superior judiciary by some legal fraternity members, saying earlier they were not respecting the subordinate courts but now they have resorted to disrespect the higher courts as well. Admonishing the lawyers of LHC Multan Bench, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed as to whether they respect the courts, adding that the courts are constitutionally empowered to address such kind of issues.
Addressing the president of the Lahore High Court Multan Bench, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar plainly observed that he will not let any non-professional to destroy the judicial system. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar categorically observed that lawyers of Multan are behind this mess with an intent to keep the issue unresolved.
While asking Qureshi to make an appointment with him, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said if Qureshi intends to resolve the issue then his representative may come to his chamber who will be bound to show good conduct. It is pertinent to mention that on July 24, Sher Zaman along with a lawyer misbehaved with Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan who was holding proceedings of a case relating to a mosque falling on the route of a government project in Vehari Chowk, Multan.
Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court took serious notice of the happening and withdrew judges from the Multan Bench of the High Court, while exercising his constitutional powers in this regard. However, the Lahore High Court principal seat and Bahawalpur Bench were made available for dispensation of justice. On July 26, the LHC Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah restored functioning of the Multan Bench.
