A senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) confirmed on Sunday the news that former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan's house in Rawalpindi was attacked by religious fanatics. "The protestors tried to attack the minister's house because of which the main gate and walls of the house were damaged," he said.
However, the security personnel deployed there foiled the extremists' bid to destroy his house, he added. The senior party leader also said that because of continuous protest in the capital city, Nisar was staying at his place in Islamabad. He refuted rumours that Nisar was travelling in an armoured vehicle to avoid the rage of the protesting fanatics. The senior leader also thanked all those concerned people who called to inquire after Nisar's safety.
Several men protesting the Faizabad crackdown on Saturday had attempted to break into the house of former interior minister in Rawalpindi. The irate men broke the main gate and tried to enter the premises but were confronted by police and security guards. They also set fire to the house's garden.
