Islamabad High Court Friday issued directives to Islamabad Capital Territory administration to clear Faizabad Interchange from protestors of Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR) in order to protect guaranteed fundamental rights of citizens by Saturday morning. TLYR sit-in entered in its 12th day on November 17, to which a single member bench of the IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui directed the district administration to end the sit-in through dialogue with the protesters, saying in case of the same, the administration can use force to resolve the issue.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked district administration to perform its duty of protection of the fundamental rights of citizens guaranteed under Articles 9, 14, 15, 18, 24, 25 and 25-A of the Constitution and take all necessary steps required for the clearance of Faizabad Interchange from the protestors. Justice Siddiqui categorically said that the district magistrate has the authority under the law to seek assistance of FC and Rangers to enforce the writ of the state, if circumstances so demand. "This task must be completed by Saturday (today)," the IHC order said.
