The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed contempt plea seeking action against anchorperson Aamir Liaqat Hussain on the grounds of insufficient evidence. Heading a three-judge bench Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan resumed the hearing of a plea filed by one Jibran Nasir, seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against Aamir Liaqat Hussain, an anchorperson of a private TV Channel conducting a programme "Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga."
Dismissing the plea the bench ruled that Hussain being a party to the instant matter had assured the court that he would be careful in future while conducting his show. During the course of proceedings, the bench observed that if anything is found objectionable in Hussain's programme in future, it would itself take action against him as per contempt law. Justice Dost Muhammad Khan questioned why everybody is vying for taking lead on TV channels observing, "the country is already facing problems while TV talk shows further aggravate the problems."
